What is wrinkle filler?

It is a natural hydrophilic component of the skin. It has the ability to attract water and thus provides hydration and volume to the areas of the face that are defining characteristics of youth. However, over time, this ability weakens, resulting in the skin losing moisture and volume, the epidermis becoming drier and thinner, and skin cells regenerating much more slowly. In this phase, The synthetic filler comes to replace the loss of the natural one.

The synthetic filler is a transparent crystalline gel, which can replace the natural one with absolute safety. It is available in various forms, allowing the most appropriate one to be chosen each time, depending on the purpose of use. It can be easily to replenish lost volumes of the face, to smooth the fine but also the deeper wrinkles, and improve the oval outline of the face that has been disturbed due to sagging skin. In short, it can turn back time without altering the natural characteristics of the face.

Step by step

The process

Step 1

Initially, one is made discussion with the doctor about your needs and wishes. If you have had a similar procedure done in the past, let him know when it was last done, as well as the type of filler and the areas where it was applied, as not all fillers interact well with each other. After studying your skin type and facial needs, the doctor will introduces you to fillers that can offer you the desired result and designs your solution plan.

Step 2

It is the moment when you can lie down and prepare for the great change in your face. Depending on the size of the area, the application does not exceed 10-30 minutes. After the anesthetic cream is applied, the doctor performs the injections using a syringe or microcannula technique.

Step 3

Once the infusions are complete, the doctor performs local massage to spread the material evenly in the desired area and the surrounding tissues. Immediately afterwards, you are guided to the mirror to enjoy the result, which is immediate!

Step 4

The doctor records in your file the type of filler and the amount of ml applied per zone.

What you need to know

Before

  • Avoid drinking alcohol at least 3-4 days beforehand.
  • To minimize the chances of bruising at the injection sites, avoid taking blood thinners (unless medically necessary) one week before and three days after the injection. These include aspirin, ibuprofen, fish oils, as well as vitamin E supplements, ginseng, gingko biloba, and St. John's wort.
  • Do not have the filler applied 1-2 days before an important event, as there may still be bruising or swelling at the injection sites. It is better to schedule it a week in advance.

After

  • Avoid strenuous physical exercise for the next 1-2 days after application, so as not to increase any swelling in the area.
  • Do not massage the injection sites unless your doctor recommends it. If you press on the sites, you may feel the filler inside to be hard. If you try to massage it to soften it, without your doctor’s advice, you risk displacing it, causing unwanted results. It is normal for the material to feel hard for up to a week.
  • There are no restrictions when it comes to applying your makeup.
  • Avoid drinking alcohol for at least 24 hours, as it can cause inflammation. Instead, it is recommended to drink plenty of water.
  • To limit any swelling in the area, make sure to keep your head elevated while sleeping by using a second pillow.
  • If you experience bruising at the injection sites, you can apply arnica cream topically or take arnica pills for at least 4 days.
  • Avoid sun exposure for as long as you have bruises.
  • If there is swelling at the injection sites, you can relieve it by applying a cold compress to the area up to 4 times a day, for 5 minutes each time.
  • Avoid strong facial expressions and lip biting for 48 hours.

Fillers

Static wrinkles

Wrinkle filler is the most suitable solution for all permanent skin folds, especially in the lower half of the face. It smoothes wrinkles around the nose and mouth, such as nasolabial folds and smoker's lines on the upper lip, while it is also safely applied to wrinkles on the cheeks and neck.

Eyes (Tear trough)

Wrinkle fillers can improve the appearance of dark circles and correct the “tear trough.” This is an anatomical deformity that, combined with excess fat in the lower eyelid (bags), creates a shadow or groove under the eyes, giving a tired look.

Zygomatics

Fillers replenish lost volume in the cheekbone area, filling in sunken temples and enhancing the “apples” of the cheekbones, making the face appear fuller and more youthful. They are an ideal solution for the mid-face area that is “emptying” due to sagging skin and reduced fat in the area.

Jaw and chin

This solution is ideal for strengthening the jawline and chin, as well as improving the contour of the face, which is affected by the gradual sagging of the skin. It can also be used to correct any asymmetry of the jaw, balancing the volumes of the area.

Lips

Fillers are the ideal way to add extra volume to your lips, make them fuller and enhance their contour. They have a thin, fluid formula, ensuring that lips remain soft and supple, and both look and feel completely natural.

Nose

Fillers are offered for "wet" rhinoplasty, allowing you to correct imperfections in the nose, such as redesigning its shape or size, straightening it if it is crooked or crooked, improving the tip, base, or nostrils, as well as making it more symmetrical and proportional in relation to the rest of the facial features.

Acne scars

Fillers can very effectively fill the scars left behind by teenage acne and furrowing the facial skin, as well as treat other atrophic scars. For deeper scars, they are applied in combination with Fractional Laser to stimulate collagen production and optimize the result.

Neck

The neck often shows the effects of increased use of technology devices. As the head remains bent over a screen for several hours, horizontal wrinkles, known as “tech wrinkles”, are soon created. Fillers are ideal for treating the so-called “tech neck”, as they fill in wrinkles and give youthful skin.

The 3 key points

for the duration of the effect

N

Filler type

There are many types of fillers that differ in their material, strength, and composition. Typically, thicker fillers tend to last longer. The same goes for fillers that are injected deeper.

N

Application area

In areas such as the cheekbones, nasolabial folds and chin, fillers last longer, while, conversely, in areas with greater mobility, such as the lips, the duration is shorter.

N

Human body

Every body is different. Age, general health, daily lifestyle and metabolic rate all affect the duration of the results.

Myths & Truths

Myth

Fillers work like botulinum toxin.

Truth

Botulinum toxin is a neurotoxin that acts on specific facial muscles, preventing muscle contractions that are responsible for expression wrinkles, mainly on the forehead, between the eyebrows and "crow's feet". Fillers, on the other hand, are composed of ingredients that have the property of retaining water and are therefore used to give the skin a more "full", firm and hydrated appearance.

Myth

Fillers may have an exaggerated effect.

Truth

Their correct use requires a very good knowledge of facial anatomy, many years of application experience and high aesthetics regarding the rules of beauty, so that the result looks beautiful and natural. In short, the technique and aesthetics of the doctor who applies the injections play a decisive role in the result. It is very important to set realistic expectations for the patient, to clarify that fillers enhance the natural features of the face and do not create new features, and to determine what is the point that should not be exceeded so that the result does not look unnatural or excessive. It happens several times that patients are so excited about the possibilities of fillers that they ask for more and more. At this point, therefore, it is very important to have the right medical guidance on where to stop.

Myth

It's for those over 40.

Truth

Fillers can be applied to adults of any age, as long as there are wrinkles or lines that bother them. Usually, it is a solution sought by people who have passed their third decade of life, without however excluding younger age groups, especially if they are people who smoke and are exposed to a lot of sun, as a result of which they have manifested premature signs of aging.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does it hurt?

No. The injections may cause mild discomfort in the area, but this is tolerable. If desired, a local anesthetic cream can be applied to completely numb the area.

Is there a recovery time?

No. It is a “lunch-time treatment”, which you can apply during your lunch break at work and return to your office as usual immediately afterwards. It does not cause any discomfort, nor any unwanted side effects that need to keep you away from your daily activities.

Does it have side effects?

Fillers are one of the most proven cosmetic solutions for the face and body. When applied by an experienced plastic surgeon, there is no risk. Symptoms such as swelling, irritation, redness and sensitivity of the area may occur, but they are mild and temporary. It is important, however, to carefully choose the doctor you will entrust your face to, as well as to make sure that he uses certified medical materials.

Are fillers allowed during pregnancy or breastfeeding?

Dermal fillers are very safe. However, since there are no clinical studies conducted on pregnant women, it is best to avoid their application during these nine months, as well as for the duration of breastfeeding. However, injections are an ideal solution immediately afterwards, as the pregnancy process often leaves the skin very dehydrated.

What can I do if I don't like the result?

In case the result does not satisfy you, then the condition is completely reversible. It is enough to inject the antidote at the site of the solution. This is hyaluronidase, a special enzyme that restores the skin to its previous state. The same antidote can also be applied in the extremely rare case of an allergic reaction.

When will the result be visible?

Wrinkle fillers are the only non-invasive solution that shows results immediately after application! You won't have to wait at all to see the change. Once the solution is complete, you will be able to see the result in the mirror!

How often do I need to repeat the application to maintain the result?

The average duration of a filler is 6-18 months. Once you notice that the effect begins to fade, then it is time to repeat the solution. Remember that the duration of the effect depends on three main factors: the type of filler, the area of application and the way each organism functions.
